The second AILEEN event in Portugal, co-organized by FAN3D and
ISQ, brought together representatives from the Portuguese Air Force (Força
Aérea Portuguesa) and the Alfeite Navy Yard (Arsenal do Alfeite) to
recognize the successful completion of the specialized courses in Additive
Manufacturing for Aeronautics and Defence.
During the event, participants toured the state-of-the-art ISQ Additive
Manufacturing Laboratory. The visit provided a hands-on view of how
classroom concepts transition into real-world industrial
environments—showcasing the continuous integration of advanced AM
fabrication, non-destructive testing, and stringent quality
controls required in aeronautics and defence.
Finally, the event provided the perfect occasion to officially hand over the
AILEEN CoVE Certificate to ISQ and FAN3D. This recognition
underscores their pivotal role as anchor institutions for the
Centre of Vocational Excellence in Portugal, empowering them to drive
long-term impact by:
• Delivering Targeted Upskilling: Providing
industry-driven technical training aligned with evolving market
needs.
• Modernizing Defence & Aerospace: Preparing
specialized workforces to deploy advanced manufacturing technologies
safely and effectively.
• Building Regional Alliances: Uniting national
security institutions, research centers, and training bodies
under a unified European framework.
